Question 2 Evaluation

How does my media product represent particular social groups Representing demographics Layout Design and language combination Some stereotypes such as Pop fans would be '12 year olds girls' may be assumed while reading the magazine but however the element of Rock creates a distinction between Pop Rock and Pop Stereotypes/Stock types This magazine can easily be seen without looking at the obvious Masthead/magazine name because of the iconography of a musical instrument. Additional Info My target audience for Pop N'Rock magazine was teenagers from the ages of 13 - 19 and would appeal to a particular gender/sex depending on who is on the magazine. The Ethnicity of the audience would also depend on who is on the magazine For this magazine issue in particular, anyone who is interested in the model - whether Asian, African or European are more than welcome to read. Asians may like the front cover model since he is in fact Asian and appeals to them as they are more likely to know him. Girls are the focus of this issue as here is a male model or artist who they may like is on it and so buy this magazine to find out more about him Since this magazine is available online as well as in stores; both people with physical abilities or disabilities have ways to obtain the magazine The main colours used here are yellow, light blue and green. This represents the genre as bright suggesting that it gives listeners a good mood The colour code/scheme is repeated throughout the publication to suggest repetition as the Pop Rock genre is seen by some as songs that use repetitive catchy lyrics. This magazine therefore matches with the intended genre Language is simple so that every demographic can easily read and no slang or colloquial language/jargon is used in the magazine to show a sense of professionalism of the publication Also the element of rock may incur the magazine to be stereotypically aimed at emos However 12 year old girls are close to my target audience but not the publications full focus. And the aim of this magazine is to appeal to individuals who want to find something in common between them and not be criticized for the music they listen to. This gives something that the customers can relate to and so get them to give in to buying it. The use of bands also may get them to see what the magazine would offer them such as tutorials on playing a specific song Song Used: CN BLUE South Korean Pop Rock Band Uses 'Hey You' as catchy tune or lyric which easily stays in your head
